This is a short story to tell you why it is important to allow gay people to get married.
After 25 plus years, my partner died of a heart attack. Because of a computer error my name did not get on his life insurance policy. He worked at Walmart and same error happened to others there too. His parents are now the recipients of his insurance. They are being greedy and are planning on keeping the money. This insurance money was important to my partner because it meant that I would be able to keep the home we bought.
Now I will have to sell it. Also, I have two large dogs that I might have to give away. It would have broken my partner’s heart to know this, he never would have considered giving away one of his dogs; they were like children to him. Because of the greed of two people, I have had to endure the loss of the love of my life, while wondering if I am going to lose my home and dogs too. If we would have been allowed to get married, this would not have been an issue at all. The insurance policy would have passed to me automatically because I would have been his spouse. Without it, I have no rights.
I cannot give out names but the greedy people live in Williamsville Missouri in case any bus loads of drag queens want to take a ride to experience a small town for a while. Spend the day, talk to the locals and ask if they know who the greedy parents are.
