Slowly but surely the good news keeps coming from Down Under. It’s not so much a flood as a trickle of good news
This time Carmel Tebbutt, the number 2 politician (Deputy Premier) in the largest state of New South Wales, has spoken about what she thinks Labor should do a both national and state levels to address change. That is: national laws for marriage, but states should move on civil unions in the absence of national action.
Tebbutt, whose brother is gay, joins a long cast of Labor leaders in the state – including the Premier and main behind-the-scenes figures – to argue for change.
