GOOD NEWS – MEXICO CITY

gay wedding in Mexico City

The Gay Marriage Blog hates to focus on bad news – so here are some statistics from Mexico City to cheer you up about the state of equality in both Latin and North America (Mexico counts as both).

271 gay or lesbian couples have been married since the capital enacted the first law in Latin America explicitly allowing same-sex marriages in March 2010. That is 142 marriages between men and 129 between women. 18 foreigners were among those married, and the rest were Mexican citizens.
